About This Game Play the most exciting moment of baseball in this fast-paced dice and card game! It’s a beautiful day here at the ballpark, and this game has been a squeaker! Everyone expected the league leaders to roll into town and easily defeat the home team. But the scrappy upstarts have played the game of their lives and managed to keep the score tied right until the end. Their fatigue is showing and now it's their last chance. If the home team batters don’t score a run now, the visitors will be sure to win the game in extra innings. It all comes down to the Bottom of the 9th!Will you lead the underdogs to victory? Or will you defend the league leaders’ unbroken winning streak?Bottom of the 9th is a strategic 2-player baseball game played with cards and dice. This faithful adaptation brings the fast-paced fun of the tabletop game to your computer! Choose your lineup from a pool of players with different strengths and abilities, outsmart your opponent in the stare-down, then roll the dice to trigger the action.Bottom of the 9th offers many ways to play:Compete in single player against a computer opponent (3 levels of difficulty)Take on the Manager's Challenge 6-game solo campaign modePass and play on your computer with a friend Challenge a friend to play onlineFind a worthy opponent in a ranked online matchOrganize a casual online exhibition gameThe powerhouse visitors have six dynamite pitchers to choose from, including:Wake Louder throws a nasty knuckleball that can get a lost ball just into the edge of the strike zone.Southpaw Straw is a talented lefty pitcher with one dangerously effective (and illegal) spitball.Hurricane Patriss is a top notch reliever, and the only thing more hypnotic than his curveball is his voice.Don't count out the home team! They have a dozen batters, each with their own special powers, including:Mully Nomah can be devastating against the pitching team when runners are in scoring position. He can clobber a pitch and get those base runners home!Kerry Rumble has power behind her swing. She has the ability to crush the ball hard, at the cost of hitting lots of fouls. She just can’t resist taking a swing! K.C. Petty is truly a powerhouse when the chips are down. The more strikes he gets, the bigger he swings.Hannah Cait may look innocent, but when she's in the zone she calls all the shots! This rookie's level of control over her swing is the envy of many a veteran. Both teams have access to two support characters who provide special abilities to one or both teams:Dice Dixon has no problem taking chances coming out from the dugout, benching batters and challenging umps!Doc Mullins is always looking after the health of the team, whether that means a more rested pitcher or more energized batters! The Manager's Challenge solo campaign mode puts you right in the dugout as a team manager. It's a fun little game where you play the last inning of a tied game of baseball. Playing as either the batters or the pitchers are very fun and can provide some light entertainment for about 10 minutes to a half hour at a time. There is a bit of a downside where you have to pay attention to the tutorial to understand what all the dice mean, but if you get past that, there is a fun lighthearted game that you can enjoy. Just a note, it is also available on apple and android and maybe slightly better optimized for those (I haven't played that version so I don't know). Still very fun on Steam though.. Another amazing board game adaptation by Handelabra! The game really captures the baseball experience, and has quite possibly the best intro music of any game I have played. At first glance the game may seem to rely a lot on luck but beneath that surface lies the stategy and skill the game has to offer. I can't wait for the expansions to be added, but still love the game as is.. A digital adaptation of a board game that recreates the end of a baseball match, the batting team must make one point to win. The main mechanic is ingenious: the batter tries to guess where the pitcher will throw the ball (four choices). According to the results, the batter or the pitcher (or both) has the possibility to modify the dice roll using power-ups. There is a fatigue effect, the pitcher can only use his stronger pitch a few times. Each character has different characteristics and you can try different line-ups for your team. There is some randomness, and a good suspense on each dice roll, with also a part of strategy. No need to know much about baseball. There is a good tutorial. A match (against AI, online or pass-and-play) is not very long with the possibility of a solo campaign of 6 matches that adds some events and conditions. A very fun little game, with a cheerful atmosphere.. Will Bottom of the 9th be on Amazon Kindles ever. I have it on my computer, it to play it on the road.. This is a great game that really captures the feel of baseball. I can't think of a better endorsement. I look forward to updates that include stats and eventually additional pitchers\/batters\/support characters. I'm considering buying this for iOS so I can play more. Starting pickup games is a little awkward but still works great.. Bottom of the 9th is a stellar recreation of the surprisingly crafty board game. This is not a simulation of baseball in its entirety. There are no tables and charts and multi-season spreadsheets of management tools. This is, as the name of the title implies, a cut to the chase, "in the moment" duel between pitcher and batters. It's quick, it's decisive, it's cat and mouse. This is not a dice fest of chucking dice, wildly guessing possible pitches out of nowhere and leaving the results to chance. There is guesswork, but it's narrowly defined and scoped to plausible situations. Example: The pitcher is fatigued, thus he can't use his ace pitch. Batter will have a narrow set of possibilities. Or, pitcher is *close* to fatigued, but not quite. Will they try and slip in a quick ace pitch at 2-0? Or will they try to deceive and outthink the batter?Another game, Baseball Highlights 2045, is a solid gem, probably the best baseball simulation game I've ever played in both digital and analog formats. The inevitable comparison between the two will conclude (for me) that BH2045 is the best game overall, but Bot9th stands solidly in its own right as a faster, tense experience. Digitally speaking, Bottom of the 9th on digital platform is straightforward. The tutorials are precise and not elongated with fluff. The game UI is easy to understand, the extra modes are pleasant diversions and add more than the analog game.Baseball Highlights:2045 was a pretty lackluster digital experience; in fact, it was probably subpar and didn't really showcase the board game it was based on as well as it ought to have. This is not true for Bottom of the 9th, which definitively presents the board game with its best foot forward. For the $5 I paid for it, it will be one of those 'exploding gems' that gives way, way, way more value than the cost.. Bottom of the 9th is a stellar recreation of the surprisingly crafty board game.
